I am incredibly honored and excited to be named the new principal of Hansen Elementary School. As a longtime resident of Olympia, and employee with the Olympia School District, I am thrilled to continue my career serving our westside families. Previously, I worked in southwest Washington teaching at both the elementary and middle school level. The majority of my career has been right here in the Olympia School District.
Over the past 16 years, I have served as a lead parent volunteer, substitute, and long-term substitute teacher in various grade levels at both Roosevelt Elementary School and Reeves Middle School. At Roosevelt I served as the the Dean of Students, overseeing behavior and restorative practice, as well as serving as a special education resource teacher. My most recent position was the Dean of Students (and Admin Intern) at LP Brown Elementary School, overseeing behavior, attendance and general building management.
Along with my professional experience in the Olympia School District, I am a proud parent of two OSD graduates, and one more coming.
My oldest daughter (RES/RMS/OHS ‘21) is spending this summer as an intern in the DC Major Crimes Department at the U.S. Attorney’s Office before entering her senior year at Georgetown University. My next daughter (RES/RMS/OHS ‘23) is at home working for the summer after finishing her freshman year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. My youngest son (RES/RMS/OHS ‘25) just placed #10 in WA state in the 3200-meter race, representing the OHS track team. He is very excited for his upcoming senior year!
Our family has lived right here in Olympia for the past 16 years, and this summer my husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
